The devastation wrought by the July 4th flash floods across the Texas Hill Country is a stark reminder of the ferocity of nature and the vulnerability of communities.  What began as a torrential downpour--punctuated by rapidly escalating river levels--turned into one of the deadliest flash-flood events in decades.  This flood has taken the lives of at least 129 people including children who were at Camp Mystic.  Many people continue to be missing.  These events are always hard, but they are made even more difficult when children are among the victims.

At Grace, we know the devastation that events like this can wreak on communities.  We also know the hope and love of God that is felt when people open their hearts wide in generosity.

Our church has made a donation of $1,000.00 to the SW Texas Synod's Disaster Fund to aid in recovery after the flood.  This donation came out of our Grace Memorial Mission Fund.  We have decided to make this gift in honor of Bishop Mike Rinehart who aided tremendously in Grace's recovery after Katrina and who is finishing his time as bishop of our Synod.

If you would like to support future donations from our Grace Memorial Mission Fund, please make an offering to GMMF here:  Give and choose Grace Memorial for Missions from the fund list, or write a check to Grace with GMMF in the memo line.  If you would like to send additional donations to the flood recovery please make a donation here:  SWTX Synod Disaster Fund

Let us pray, God our refuge and strength, you have bound us together in a common life.  When one of us suffers, we all suffer together.  When one of us weeps, we all weep together.  Send us your very present help.  Amen.
